The first Namibian fly-in was started in 2003 by Kücki Kühhirt at the starkly beautiful Rostock Ritz Desert Lodge; the fly-in quickly became an institution for Southern African pilots and was held there for ten years until it was decided in 2014 to move it to the small desert town of Uis.

Located in the lee of the magnificent Brandberg Mountain, Uis is arguably one of the most unusual settings for an aviation event in the world. Each year the Uis Fly-In attracts both local and international pilots in a spectacular array of aircraft.

Aviators, aviation enthusiasts, aviation photographers, desert lovers and adventurers congregate once a year to enjoy the beautiful scenery, the location and enjoy the spectacle of a variety of aircraft roaring through the Namibian skies. Pilots are kept busy with various optional competitions including navigation rallies, spot landings and timed circuits with some incredible prizes up for grabs, including local and international flights sponsored by Air Namibia.

Aerobatics, sky diving and an array of other aviation related escapades keep spectators enthralled and of course Namibian hospitality with superlative accommodation and catering is never a disappointment.

The Uis fly-in is a must-do for any international or local pilots planning an aerial safari through Namibia.

A dedicated person has been appointed to handle the clearances for all non-Namibian aircraft.
